Sell your books on Preloved Bookshop

Love books? Got a few to rehome?
Welcome! You’re in the right place.

Preloved Bookshop is a community-driven marketplace where readers, collectors, and authors can sell their secondhand books directly to other book lovers. You’ll have your own little corner of the site, your own online shopfront, complete with your listings, bio, and shop page.

It’s free to join, simple to use, and built especially for people who want to give good books a second life.

Preloved is designed for individuals and small independent sellers rehoming preloved books, not for large-scale retailers or commercial resellers. If you operate a retail bookshop or business selling primarily across multiple platforms, our marketplace may not be the right fit.

Since opening Two Tongues Bookshop on the Preloved Bookshop website in March 2026, my experience as a vendor has been consistently smooth, intuitive, and rewarding. Setting up my store was straightforward, and managing listings for my pre-loved novels in English and Spanish, language learning materials, sheet music, and songbooks has been refreshingly easy.

One of the standout aspects of the platform is the exceptional level of support. Min, the site administrator, provides incredibly prompt, clear, and helpful communication. Whether I’ve had a question about listings or needed guidance, I’ve always received thoughtful and informative responses in record time, which makes a real difference when running a small online shop.

Preloved Bookshop creates a welcoming space not only for buyers but also for sellers like me who are passionate about giving books a second life. I’m genuinely grateful to be part of such a well-run and supportive platform, and I look forward to continuing to grow my shop here. 🤗

How Preloved Bookshop Works

Selling on Preloved Bookshop is much like using any online marketplace, but with one big difference:
we only deal in books: no random clutter or mass resellers, just beloved stories waiting for their next reader.

That focus helps us stay true to our mission of rehoming preloved books within a genuine community of readers, not running a high-volume retail environment.

Once your vendor account is approved, you can:

  • List as many books as you like, complete with photos, condition notes and descriptions,
  • Set your own prices and shipping rates,
  • Manage your orders and messages easily through your vendor dashboard,
  • Get paid automatically via PayPal once your balance reaches $50 (or sooner if you ask),
  • There are no upfront fees and no listing charges, you only pay a commission when a book actually sells.

Joining Preloved Bookshop means becoming part of a genuine partnership: I’ll use my years of UX design, web development and SEO experience to help your books reach the readers who’ll appreciate them most.

I have only had books posted on Preloved website for a few months and have already sold two. I had made a couple of mistakes with my listings and Min was happy to help me out. Sales went through easily and payment went into my account quickly and easily.

Commission & fees

Here’s the simple breakdown:

  • 13% + 50¢ is deducted from each sale.
This covers all marketplace and payment processing costs (PayPal/Stripe).
After those fees, Preloved Bookshop usually receives between 6-9% of the total.
  • When you withdraw your earnings, the PayPal transfer fee (2.6% + 30¢) is split evenly, so you only pay 1.3% + 15¢.
We *might* be able to add a direct bank transfer option down the line for vendor withdrawals, which will get rid of this fee, but for the moment, we’re stuck with Paypal.

That’s it. No hidden charges, no subscription fees, no fine print.

Preloved Bookshop has made selling my second hand books incredibly simple. Listing titles is straightforward, and the platform displays them beautifully, making it easy for buyers to browse my collection. Within days of posting, I had inquiries and sales I wouldn’t have reached through traditional methods. If you’re a bookseller looking for a hassle-free way to give pre-loved books a new home, this is the platform for you. Highly recommended!

Why you’ll love selling here

  • Built for book people: Our marketplace is made exclusively for books, so every visitor is already your kind of customer.
  • Set your own pace: Whether you’re selling one bookshelf’s worth or building a full microstore, you’re in control.
  • All the tools you need: From custom coupons and customer messaging to flexible shipping and reviews, Preloved Bookshop gives you everything you’d expect from a full online store, in miniature.
  • Fair and transparent: Clear fees, easy payouts, and a genuine community spirit.
  • Support that’s human: If something goes wrong – there’s an actual person on the other end to help.
  • And most importantly: we keep it personal. Preloved isn’t a bulk marketplace: it’s a space for individuals and small vendors who love books, not for large commercial bookshops or resellers.

While looking for a way to begin selling an extensive inherited library of literature I came across Preloved Bookshop and decided to list a few titles and see what happened. Setting up my digital shopfront was a simple task, the how-to guides had me up and running quickly. I started with perhaps 20 titles and now I just add a new book or two when I have a spare moment, slowly building the catalogue. Sales are a bit of a slow burn but I don’t expect the books I am selling to run off the shelves, they’re maybe a bit niche and it is great to have a place where I can get them out there. I suspect as the Preloved Bookshop grows as a whole and gains a larger audience so too will the sales from my catalogue.

Orders arrive in my inbox already paid so it is just a matter of packing and sending the title once the order is received. I post tracking details through the website keeping customers across their purchase because we all know when you order something online you like to know how that order is progressing.

Overall, Preloved Bookshop has been a positive experience for me as a seller and, from the positive feedback received, also for my buyers.

Getting started

Because we want to keep the community safe and scam-free, all new vendor accounts are manually approved (for now!).

To make approval quick and easy, make sure you:

  • Complete your profile (especially your shop bio and shipping rates – without these two, your vendor account can’t be approved!),
  • Upload a profile image or shop banner.

Once approved, you can publish listings straight away and start selling.
