The Picts and the Martyrs

The 11th book in Ransome’s famous 12-volume series. It is set in the Lake District of England. The Swallows are absent. Dick and Dorothea Callum expect to holiday with Nancy and Peggy Blackett, the Amazons, at their house Beckfoot. Circumstance forces them to find other accommodation, which is an abandoned stone hut in the forest. It contains the 1958 authors note on the origin of the series.
