Harmony and Ear Training at the Keyboard

This book is a comprehensive survey of harmony through the medium of the piano keyboard.

The goal is a cumulative and concurrent development of keyboard and aural skills. The projects are designed to provide for systematic expansion of the harmonic vocabulary, beginning with diatonic triads and proceeding through chromatic harmony to twentieth-century techniques. The program is for four semesters, averaging about one project per week, with additional materials for review at the end of each unit.

The exercises in each project are sufficient in number and variety to allow for selection by teacher and student. Most projects are organised in a similar format. The first three exercises in each are in four-part texture, with controlled voice-leading.
