Arthur Ransome and Capt. Flint’s Trunk

Christina Hardyment investigates the people and places that influenced Ransome’s 12-volume series of books for children written mostly through the 1930s. With 45 illustrations (drawings and photographs) and 5 maps. Ransome weaved a lot of real life people and places into his fiction but probably omitted a lot of politically senstive matters in his other writings, which included journalism on Russia, Egypt and China.
