The Australian Aboriginal

By Roland Robinson & Douglass Baglin

$20.00

Roland Robinson and Douglass Baglin have collaborated to produce a fascinating record of the Australian Aboriginals traditional way of life.

Roland Robinson has written of myths and legends, hunting and gathering food, weapons and implements. He also discusses ritual, art and family and tribal organisation.

The final three chapters deal with the impact of the white man on traditional tribal society.

The author gives a strong indictment of the treatment that Aboriginals have received since 1770. It is not comfortable reading.

Douglass Baglin’s photographs, many published for the first time, complement and enhance the text. Baglin has lived and hunted with the Aboriginals at various times, and his
pictures capture many aspects of Aboriginal life.
