Best friends Vangie Raybuck and June Keel are girls out to have fun.

And that means dope, booze and sex with their boyfriends Del and Ray, usually in the same car. After leaving school, they take the sort of dead-end jobs that are all rural Pennsylvania offers, Vangie sets up home with Del and June moves in with Ray and his brother.

But while Vangie begins to realise there’s more to life than sex with Del, she is powerless to stop June slipping deeper into a situation fated to end in tragedy.
