Bill Hicks: Agent of Evolution

Revered in Britain, ignored at home, Bill Hicks wasn’t just the quintessential ‘comedian’s comedian, he was often their proxy, saying the things on stage they wished they had the courage to say.

No cow was too sacred. All game was fair.

Offstage, Bill was something very different – just an unassuming, thoughtful person seeking enlightenment.

Sometimes he tried to get there through books, other times through reckless drugs. Too few people got to see either side of Bill Hicks, though, as just as Bill was on the cusp of breaking through on both sides of the Atlantic, cancer took his life.

He was just 32 years old.
