Shipping & Handling Information for Preloved Book Shop
Here, we provide transparent information to ensure a smooth and delightful experience from the moment you place an order to its arrival at your doorstep.

Preloved Book Shop ships books anywhere inside Australia at a standard untracked rate of $9, or free shipping for orders over $99. We generally ship via Auspost, without tracking, particularly for small orders under $20.
If you would like your parcel to be tracked via post, we can provide Auspost tracking at a rate of $14; just be sure to select the tracked parcel option in the Cart. If you need your secondhand book order urgently, we also offer Auspost Express for $21.
For New Zealand, a flat-rate shipping fee of $5AUD applies, plus $10AUD per book.
So, if you purchase one book, shipping to NZ costs $15AUD. Two books = $25AUD. Three books = $35AUD, and so on.
We know. It’s a lot. Unfortunately the secure shipping options we have available to us charge a lot. If you know of a reliable, fast, secure way to get parcels from Australia to New Zealand – please contact us! We’d love to give book lovers some more options.
Your shipping address, added during the checkout process, will automatically determine shipping costs.
Shipping times will vary obviously due to Auspost delays, however you can usually rely on your order to arrive anywhere in metro Victoria within 2-4 business days. For elsewhere in Australia, please allow up to two weeks, as there can be significant shipping delays with Australia’s postal service these days.
What is the “Small Order Surcharge”?
For any order under $10 (excluding postage), a small order surcharge of $4 will be applied to your cart. This is due to rising operational costs. To avoid this unfortunate surcharge, simply add another book to your cart; as soon as the cart total is over $10, the surcharge is removed.
We really do apologise for this, but it means we don’t have to raise our prices or increase the shipping & handling cost. A win-win, we hope, as it means more books find their forever family!
Can I order books from you if I’m outside of Australia and New Zealand?
We can arrange for shipping to countries outside of Australia and New Zealand, we’ll just need to send a separate payment request for shipping, as we need to obtain a quote once you place your order, as shipping rates to international customers can vary so greatly.

Product Returns
Please choose your books carefully; most of our books are in as-new condition, but as this is a secondhand book store, obviously wear and tear may sometimes be present on your books. When this is present we will make our best efforts to ensure a note is added to the listing on our website.
You are welcome to email us at [email protected] if you have any doubts about the quality of a book prior to purchasing.
If you believe the books you’ve received are defective, or ask for a refund based as the condition isn’t as you expected, please contact [email protected] and provide a photo and your Order number, which is available in your purchase email. We will do everything in our power to come up with a solution.
If you have received the wrong product in your order, please contact us at [email protected] with your Order number, and we’ll be happy to refund, or exchange for another book of equal value.
Return to sender
We will put the delivery address on the parcel exactly as it was put on the order form. Please ensure your delivery details are correct as our couriers and Auspost won’t second-guess it – they’ll just return to us if there’s an error.
If the parcel returns to us, you can choose to either:
a) refund the cost of the book minus the freight charge we incurred, or
b) pay the replacement postage and we will resend the book.
If a parcel is returned to us marked “Return to Sender,” we will attempt to contact you via the email address provided with your order. We will send up to three emails over several weeks.
If we do not receive a response within one month of receiving the returned parcel, the following will apply:
a) We will refund the cost of the books, minus the postage fees we incurred and a $10 picking fee.
i) If your order qualified for free shipping, the actual shipping cost we paid will also be deducted from your refund.
ii) If the total refund amount is less than the combined shipping and restocking fees, no refund will be issued.
b) The books will be returned to stock on our website.
Our goal is to ensure your books reach you, so if this situation arises, please respond to our emails so we can resolve it and get your books to you.
