The Dawn of Time: Australian Aboriginal Myths

Classic Aboriginal Myths illustrated by Ainslie Roberts, in full colour.

A wonderful companion work to the collaboration began in the immensely successful book, The Dreamtime. After that success, Mr. Roberts prepared another series of paintings, once more based on Aboriginal mythology, and when they were exhibited at the 1968 Adelaide Festival of Arts, the whole collection was sold on the first day. A selection from this exhibition, together with others painted at various times, is reproduced in full colour, with black and white drawings that also illustrate the myths. Each painting is accompanied by Mr. Mountford’s interpretation of the myth. A unique contribution to Australian art and literature.
