Bunyip Bluegum would never have met Bill Barnacle, the sailor, his friend Sam Sawnoff, the penguin bold, and Albert, the magic pudding, if it had not been for his Uncle Wattleberry’s whiskers.

For it was on account of these whiskers that Bunyip decided to leave home and become a travelling gentleman of leisure.
