Memoirs of an Old Bastard

An elderly millionaire, who lives in a brooding mansion on the Great Dividing Range, returns to Melbourne after a long and mysterious absence.

There, he quickly finds himself haunted by a rum figure in a grey gaberdine overcoat and green astrakhan hat. A spate of adventures ensue, sweeping the old bloke along boulevards and dead-end streets, through parks and cemeteries, and into the dining rooms of the quality. He is a pitiless gormandiser. The strands of satire, search, mystery, and epicurean chronicle, all coalesce in a shocking finish.
