A short introduction to the study of our common Eucalypts.

This is the third edition, and the fifth printing, of a concise introduction to the study of Australia’s more common eucalypts, with particular reference to southeastern Australia. It has established itself over many years as an ideal pocket companion for the hiker, the field naturalist, and all who live, travel or spend their holidays in country districts.

The aim of the book is to assist those who enjoy the countryside to identity readily the many varieties of eucalypt that flourish between the plains and the tree line of the Alps.

Following a general introduction, chapters are devoted to distinctions in bark, leaves, fruit and flowers; and keys to groups and to individual species are added.

There are 11 illustrations in half-tone, and four pages of line sketches.
