Women from around Australia – grandmothers, mothers and daughters all – tell about the way the significant objects in their lives have been passed from hand to hand, from generation to generation.

In their own words and through photographs, the private worlds of women produce memories that go beneath the surface of things. Heirlooms and hand-me-downs, teapots and prayer books, routines and rituals, cuttings from familiar gardens and the Singer sewing machine, make plain the patterns of this place.
