Dyes from Plants

By Seonaid M Robertson

$15.00

Dyes from Plants is a delightfully readable resource for craftsmen interested in vegetable dyeing.

Each plant for which a recipe is given is identified by its common and botanical name and by an illustration showing the important parts. Many of these illustrations were originally woodcuts or engravings in old herbals.

There are chapters on “preparing fibers” and “equipment for dyeing, mordants, gathering and using dye plants” in every season, “dyes of historical importance, top-dyeing, lichen dyes, special dyes for cotton, linen, and silk”, and “planting a dye garden”.

Dang! We just sold this one. If you would like to be notified if we rescue another copy, please sign up for secondhand book notifications.
