Ceramic Design

The answers to the universal questions what is good design and how does one achieve it in one’s work? – are set forth as only a seasoned designer and educator could present them.

Chapters on form, sketching, colling, rolling, slabbing, draping, turning, pressing, pouring, throwing, and combining are supplemented by others on carved design, shaping, colouring, glazing, firing, and drawing for the ceramic artist. A discussion of the special world of glass, in relation to ceramic design is helpful, and there are others on decorating techniques with ceramic pigments, mosaics, and the liaison between architecture and the ceramic designer.
