The Jam Spell

Penny was in the middle of jam-making when the old pedlar-woman arrived.

Besides the usual basketful of pegs, she had some very special white powder – “flavour finder” as she called it, sprinkling it on to the jam. But did it find the flavour of the jam, or the people who sampled it?

When Penny and Hal’s Mum and Gran took the fateful spoonful of plum jam, the result was so alarming that the two children rushed off on a trail of clues that would lead them to Mad Meg, the pedlar.

For unless the spell was broken Mum and Gran would wear themselves to a shadow!
