Statistics for Land Managers

All managers of land, and all applied biologists, whether they are growing plants or animals maximum yields, or maintaining an area for conservation or research reasons, frequently need to answer the fundamental question – how much of X is on my land?

This book helps to answer that question, and others like it.

The first part explains in simple terms why managers need to use statistics, and clearly sets out various useful sampling methods without going into any unnecessary detail.

The second part describes the basic theory behind the statistical techniques described in the first part, and it also introduces the simpler computational routines needed for analysing experimental results, using clear and straightforward language. These routines are essential for research workers, and most land managers will also find them of practical value.

The book was written by a practical forester, and it is liberally illustrated with easily followed examples from his own experience.
