Principles of Automatic Control

Since this book was first published, the study of automatic control has increasingly been introduced into first degree and HNC/HND courses in engineering.
In the new edition of this standard student text, the first three chapters-on the fundamentals and applications of closed-loop control, the analytic viewpoint, and differential-equation analysis-have been extensively revised to present a more readily comprehensible introduction to the subject.
The chapter on transfer-function analysis has been lengthened by the addition of a section on signal flow graphs, and a section on sensitivity functions has been added to the chapter on design procedure and specifications. Detail modifications have been made to the chapter on compensating techniques.
Chapter 11 has been completely rewritten, with the accent on computer control (DDC), and Chapter 12 has been extended to include state transformation, observability and controllability, and discrete systems.
A further selection of problems for solution has been included.
