Perfect Princess And The Bog Monster: Tall and Twisted Fairytales from Aussie Kids

Once upon a time, there was a festival throughout the land to celebrate the stories of Hans Christian Andersen. In honour of this event, ABC TV embarked on a quest for the finest, funniest and most fantastic fairytale in the land.

There was nothing that was deemed too outrageous, too creative, too adventurous or too humorous to be included.

So children from far and wide penned their cleverest ideas.

Over four thousand entrants sought to greet the fair Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and win her heart with a tale, for that was the prize, you see!

The judges toiled day and night to find just the right mix of romance, slime and fantasy. Finally the quest was over-the winner was The Perfect Princess. Other children who were shortlisted for their excellent tales are included here for the enjoyment of all in the land.
