This is an extraordinary book by a gifted artist and teacher.

In fact it is the only book that I know where an author begins with an idea to render a history of the Art of an area and falls so head over heels in love with his subject that he feels compelled to write guidelines for its conservation; but then finds that even that will not be enough and pushes his boat out even further to pertinently advise the reader of aesthetics.

This collection of drawings and paintings comprises not only an interesting and varied view of the blue Mountains, but because it is representative of so many important artists in our history it also shows a parallel to the development of Australian landscape art as a whole.
