Caricatures

Noel Counihan is an artist of many talents – painter, cartoonist, print maker and sculptor.

This book is a tribute to his portrait caricature, of which he is an acknowledged master both in Australia and overseas. There are over eighty caricatures of a diverse collection of men and women ranging from politicians and archbishops to artists and sportsmen. The selection includes examples of Counihan’s caricatures from 1934 to 1984, thus providing a retrospective of the last 50 years of his work. Represented in the Australian National Gallery, Canberra, all State and many regional galleries and other public collections, Noel Counihan is one of the major figures in Australian art today.
