Assessment and Remediation of Articulation and Phonological Disorders

Second edition. This text was constructed with three major goals in mind.
The first was to cover in a comprehensive way the work of the past 40 years in the service of people who find intelligible speech beyond their ability to master. Thus, coverage includes traditional views toward articulation disorders and their treatment, behavioural management approaches with their greater efficiency, and, finally, current thinking and methods derived from the contributions of modern linguistics.
The second major goal was to provide a text that would emphasise treatment. Of the book’s 14 chapters, 9 are fully developed discussions of remedial procedures by authors who in many cases actually developed them or who are recognised experts in the method described. This work, then, serves as a rich resource on therapy. To our knowledge, no other text fully explicates the major current approaches for remediating disorders of articulation and phonology.
Finally, the editors hoped to collect in one volume the contributions of a number of authors who have achieved national recognition for their original works. The contributors to this volume have provided extensive service to the communicatively impaired.
