Ancient Civilisations

Ancient Civilisations actively involves students in the study of history.

The authors believe that history should be enjoyable and that students learn best when encouraged to evaluate information and arrive at their own conclusions. Students re-create the past through the study of primary sources, works of art, archaeological remains, illustrations and maps.

The text contains units on prehistory, the first humans, and the ancient civilisations of Sumer, Egypt, China, Greece and Rome. The material presented looks at the life of ordinary people as well as the deeds of the rich and famous. Imaginative activities, made up of puzzles, skill-building exercises and research projects, will activate students’ imaginations and minds.

Ancient Civilisations provides an exciting introduction to history for students in Years 7 and 8.
